Release Your Vision
Happy FriYAY! I hope you’ve enjoyed your short work week, courtesy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., well sort of. As you know (at least you better know) Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. MLK day is my favorite holiday, particularly because of the purpose behind this holiday, a day of service.
Dr. King is without a doubt one of my favorite historical figures, I remember as a little girl, I’d sit in awe while watching old footage of him on TV or listening to old recordings of him on the radio. Dr. King was a visionary, my God where would we be today, had he not had a vision, how would the world look today? I do wonder… But, thankfully, we know what his vision was, we know the impact his vision had on the civil rights movement and how it changed the world.
What is your vision for your life and legacy, do you have a vision? Of course you do! Do you ever sit and “dream” about future plans or goals, maybe it’s for your business, perhaps you’ve thought about writing a book or play, maybe you’ve thought about starting a podcast or maybe you have a specific vision for your family. When you envision these things do you think of how bringing them into fruition could change the trajectory of your life?
Somehow self-doubt finds a way to ENTERrupt (interrupt) our visions or thought process; we may think to ourselves, but who is gonna buy my book, or watch my play, or listen to my podcast; is there even a market for what I am offering; what really do I have to offer; people will think I’m arrogant or that I am full of myself…
I went to Oprah’s 2020 vision tour in Charlotte, NC this past weekend and she made a statement that really resonated with me, well she said a lot that resonated actually, but she was speaking on how in life folks will make you feel as if you are full of yourself, because of your accomplishments; as if you shouldn’t be proud of yourself. Then she said, you know what, You Were Born to Be FULL of yourself!
I want to encourage you at this very moment to stop holding your vision in bondage, release your vision to God and allow him to help you manifest it. When we waddle in self-doubt and the back and forth of, what if this does or dose not happen we are telling God that we are not clear on what our vision is. Where do you think our visions come from, honey we were hand picked by God to see our visions through.
God knows our visions, but he needs for us to clearly articulate those visions to him! Only then can he begin to work in us, through us and with us to bring our visions to full circle.
