An Outfit To Blog About

Both items hung in my closet for more than a year. I had tried each piece on several times but just couldn’t seem to make either piece work. Consequently, both ended up in a pile of clothes destined for Goodwill.  Just as I started gathering my pile of Goodwill donations I noticed a cream and turquoise garment lying perfectly next to each other it was then that I had my aha moment.I thought to myself that cream and turquoise is popping, what is that?! I picked up the two items and thought oh! BUT….. a voice in my head kept saying loudly, try them on TOGETHER and how glad I am that I listened to that not so little voice inside my head.

Bulky Cream & Cognac Sweater-Jacket

I thought the sweater- jacket was big, bulky, too long and didn’t seem to go with anything I paired it with. It was always too much whether I paired it with pants be it jeans, slacks or even a skirt and top it never added just the right touch but always over exaggerated my outfit.

Cream sweater-jacket with leather cognac trim and bold gold zipper & hard wear. Purchased from Boston (BP) for $49.99, purchased on sale. This item is a regular at BP every winter they have a variation of the jacket. I purchased my jacket in the spring when it was on clearance. The regular price is around $130.

 Short & Sassy Turquoise Dress

I absolutely love this little sassy turquoise dress but, unfortunately I thought it was too short for my “big ole legs”.  Short sassy turquoise dress with bold gold zipper/hard wear on the back.

This is another Boston Proper goody purchased on sale. I purchased my dress during a sale on top of a sale. The dress was on clearance for $39.99 with an additional 50% off so I bought it for about $19.99 (not including tax and delivery charges). The regular full price was about $69.99- $79.99; I can’t remember exactly. This style of dress is a part of the BP travel collection so you can expect to see it or something very similar this spring or summer. The dress also came in black.

Shoes & Accessories

To tie it all together I wore a gold necklace (see pic below), it was purchased from BP on sale but I don’t remember what I paid for it. Lastly,  I wore a pair of cognac knee high slouch leather boots. and…. you guessed it purchased from Boston Proper on sale. I paid roughly $100 for my boots the original price was around $229.99. Sorry ladies, I purchased my boots several years ago and they no longer sale this style of boots.

A Match Made in Heaven

Pairing the two together just made sense. The “big, bulky & long” sweater-jacket was the perfect overlay for the sassy “too short” turquoise dress. Pairing the my short & sassy with my bulky overwhelming sweater-jacket eased my insecurities of showing too much leg and the feeling of being extra in the jacket – problem solved! I received many complements on the finished product. I felt cute, sassy & sexy! In the end big, bulky and too long complimented sassy and too short. It was truly a match made in heaven.

It all came together so nicely! Yeah…. I had to blog about it.
